- Strong technical (formulation and process) knowledge to deliver the innovation and development pipeline as part of our Innovation aspiration.
- Continuously upgrading the technical knowledge in team and organization through In house and external search.
- Be part of the R&D BU Leadership team and technical representative on innovation projects at the CEE BU PMB.
- Deliver qualified (consumer and technical) innovation projects in close collaboration with cross functional teams and successfully transitions them into commercialization.
- Identify, assess and drive forward key innovation opportunities (consumer and technical) and successfully transitions them into the pipeline as early stage projects
- Provide technical support and project leadership for identified innovation opportunities for the Local stars, drive profit brands and simple innovations for Power brands.
- Keep the R&D BU Lead informed of the proposed innovation development, risks, risk mitigation and probability of success, to enable informed decision-making by the GM and BU Leadership.
- Proven people management skills to build connections and engagement with cross functional teams and people with different backgrounds.
- Proven strong collaboration skills with people at all levels in cross functional team and multiple geographies.
- Drive and maintain awareness of scientific literature and competitive intelligence to assist work progression and understanding.
- Develops strong, collaborative relationships with other departments/groups and fosters an environment of knowledge sharing.
- Lead cross-BU/cross-regional functional sharing of scientific or consumer opportunities, breaking down any 'silos'.
- Effectively build and manage external relationships with suppliers to inform the development and implementation of the innovation strategy.
- Serve as the voice of the consumer when developing innovation opportunities through close interaction with consumer insights and product understanding, driving early consumer input / technical consumer understanding into early pipeline and prototype development.
- Create technical and product understanding research plans to fit overall project deliverables
- Perform comprehensive and critical evaluation of internal and external data
- Author technical papers/presentations
- Lead due diligence on external innovation opportunities and deliver strong technical recommendations.
- Deliver innovative and better ways of doing things; actively champion the elimination of non-value-added processes and procedures.
- University Degree min. BS in Chemical,Pharmaceutical, Nutrition or related science, preferably MS or Ph.D. degree
- Equivalent practical experience min 5 years
- Excellent analytical skills, including strategic thinking, ability to frame problems and opportunities using supporting data, problem solving and measuring impact
- Strong technical understanding on the requirements to deliver innovation (across medicines/dietary supplements and consumer goods) to the marketplace is necessary along with a good grasp of the challenges associated with the other core areas in order for the incumbent to deal with the technical complexity inherent in the role and to understand the regulatory, quality and safety implications of any decisions made
- History of successful formulation and/or product development to launch
- Experience of partnering with Regulatory, Product Development, Packaging, Consumer Understanding, Medical Affairs, Supply Chain and Clinical Development on the requirements for product development and an understanding of the approval processes
- Clear communicator in both oral and written form with both internal departments and external organisations
- Experience in consumer-focused global healthcare related products / brand management
- Experience of working with External Innovation and the evaluation of external opportunities, including due diligence
- Maintains external networks and represents the organization on many topics in the role of Innovation
- Strong collaboration skills who can manage cross functional teams and delivers innovation pipeline in a highly matrixed organization
- Proven ability to solve complex technical and operational problems in a timely manner
- The incumbent should demonstrate proven creative ability and an innate passion to proactively identify and deliver new innovation into the pipeline and excellence in achieving results.

R&D Innovation Lead CEE
About the role
The purpose of the role will be leading and driving simple and complex Innovation and Development projects for local star and drive profit brands and simple innovations for Power brands for the CEE BU. In line with BU strategic innovation needs, you will ensure a full, balanced and consistent flow of consumer-relevant and scientifically differentiated innovation into the development pipeline as well as that the voice of the consumer is heard, and that consumer input drives the initiatives pursued. The role includes identification of new opportunities in line with innovation strategy and designing technical strategy that is viable to lead to a successful launch. You will build a robust project for delivery into pipeline by driving connections with BU Regulatory Innovation Lead medical, regulatory, Commercial, Consumer Insights, Consumer Science & Product Understanding, Packaging and Supply Chain functions, working with External Innovation and SC to identify and evaluate new viable innovation opportunities, partnering with QSC on project sourcing strategy and pre-qualification and selection of CMOs
