Marsh McLennan is looking for:

Lead Counsel Marsh Mercer Poland and CEE North / Compliance Officer

What can you expect?

This role has overall responsibility for collaborating with the Marsh and Mercer business units in Poland and CEE Region North to understand the business environment and strategy in order to advise and provide guidance on potential risks and be their trusted strategic advisor with regards to all legal, compliance and public affairs topics. You will regularly engage with the local regulators and ensure compliance of Marsh and Mercer with applicable law / regulation. He / she will also implement Marsh and Mercer legal and compliance strategy, processes and goals. The role reports directly to Chief Counsel Marsh Mercer CEE.

We will count on you to:

• Position yourself as the first point of contact for legal and compliance topics (day-to-day and routine needs or global projects, as requested) and be very close to the business. The focus here is in particular on insurance law, contract law and general civil law, but data protection, IT and corporate law also play an important role.
• Acts as the legal advisor for the region working with both local and regional leadership
• Identify risks and opportunities and developing pragmatic solutions and offer proactive advise on possible legal issues
• Lead and initiate new projects from conception to completion.
• Be responsible for the creation and implementation of compliance processes and company policies, in line with our global and regional strategies and train the colleagues on these processes.
• Communicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel, public authority etc.), creating relations of trust
• Draft and solidify agreements, contracts and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights
• Deal with complex matters with multiple stakeholders and forces
• Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility
• Maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation

What you need to have:

• Master Degree in Law
• Approximately 5 years of experience in international and complex organization from the insurance sector - this is a must
• Possess appropriate knowledge of Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD)
• Fluency in English and Polish
• Demonstrated ability to resolve problems and present results
