COWI Renewable Energy, of which we are a part, has offices in Scandinavia, UK and Germany and in Poland in Bielsko-Biała, Kraków, Wrocław, Warszawa, and Gdańsk. We provide consultancy services to our customers on the planning, designing, and optimization of energy systems worldwide.

In this position as a Power System Engineer (AIS and GIS Substations), you will join our international team of experts and work on challenging and innovative projects. Your key responsibilities will include modeling, analyzing, and designing AIS and GIS Substations, as well as developing future strategies for our clients.

The AIS and GIS Substations will be engaged in feasibility studies and master planning, assessing technical and economic factors to optimize overhead lines and their design. This role supports the development of reliable and efficient power transmission solutions tailored to each project's unique requirements.

Furthermore, on a day-to-day basis you will:

• Prepare technical specifications and documentation for primary circuits of AIS and GIS substations up to 420 kV.
• Perform essential engineering calculations, including grounding and lightning protection studies.
• Produce building and detailed design documentation and support the permitting process.
• Conduct feasibility studies, master planning, and prepare technical reports.
• Provide technical consulting and advisory support to customers.
• Collaborate with clients through meetings, strategic planning, and business trips.

On top of that, you have:

• A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering (or a related field) with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Nationality of a NATO member state. Dual nationality is permitted only if both nationalities are from NATO member states. Candidates holding nationality of a non-NATO country, whether solely or in addition to a NATO nationality, are not eligible for consideration.
• Broad understanding of high-voltage substations in range of kV
• Strong competence in high-voltage installation and equipment, both AIS and GIS
• Experience with:
• Short circuit calculations especially according IEC and IEC 60909,
• Thermal calculations
• Insulation coordination studies
• Grounding/earthing studies (both direct earting and Petersen coil earting systems)
• Inrush and dynamic analysis
• EMT studies
• Voltage quality assessments
• Reactive and capacitive power calculations in power systems
• Typical software experience:
• Experience with tools such as PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, ETAP, PSSE, ETAB etc.
• Autocad
• Primtech3D
• Knowledge of relevant IEC standards and CIGRE
• Experience in executing projects leveraging BIM technology
• Familiarity with protection and control systems (not absolute requirement, but nice to have)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and learning abilities.
• Team-oriented attitude with excellent communication skills and readiness for international travel.
• Good oral and written presentation skills in English.
• Awareness of power transmission and HVDC/offshore cable markets is a plus.
