- Automation Strategy: Develop and implement a comprehensive automation strategy for technical operations, identifying areas where automation can enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Scripting and Coding :Write and maintain scripts and code for automating routine operational tasks, configuration management, and deployment processes.Utilize scripting languages such as Python, PowerShell, or others as appropriate.

- Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Design and implement CI/CD pipelines to automate the build, testing, and deployment of software applications.Facilitate the seamless and rapid delivery of updates and new features.
- Monitoring and Alerting Automation: Implement automated monitoring solutions that trigger alerts for potential issues or deviations from predefined performance thresholds.Develop automated responses or remediation actions for common incidents.
- Service Management (Incident, Patch, Backup & Recovery) Automation Response: Integrate automation into incident response workflows to enable swift identification and resolution of system issues.Implement automated responses to specific types of incidents to minimize manual intervention.Develop and maintain automated processes for patch management to ensure timely and consistent application of security updates across IT systems.Schedule and coordinate automated patching activities.Implement automated backup solutions for data and system configurations.Develop and test automated disaster recovery processes to ensure data integrity and system availability.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Embrace Infrastructure as Code principles to automate the provisioning and configuration of infrastructure components using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Chef.Manage and version control infrastructure configurations.
- Performance Optimization: Implement automation tools to analyze and optimize system performance, including resource allocation and load balancing.Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks through automated solutions.
- Documentation of Automated Processes: Maintain comprehensive documentation for all automated processes, ensuring clarity and accessibility for the IT team.Provide training and documentation for team members on automated workflows.
- Computer Science or related bachelor's degree required although relevant experience is equally valued
- Development languages - like NodeJS, Java, Javascript, python
- Experience on cloud services, specially data analytics tools/services like Azure Databricks, Azure DataFactory
- Experience on varied relational and non-relational databases
- Experience on data virtualizations tool/services like Denodo, Azure Synapse etc
- Containerizations – Kubernetes or Docker
- DevSecOps knowledge
- Good command of English both spoken and written (at least B2)

The Principal Engineer R&D Digital and Tech, Technical Operations role sits across all the R&D Tech solution groups and will work directly with Product Directors and Product Teams to drive their software solutioning strategy and implementation.
The Principal Engineering role has the accountability to work across Product Teams to help with different technical solutions which will drive a change in culture across R&D Tech. Working with the DevSecOps, Quality and UX teams you will lead the engineering guidelines and practices to be adopted across the R&D Tech Product Teams. You will have the opportunity to be the thought leader in R&D Tech and drive adoption of best practices to enable R&D Tech's Product Teams in their journey.
