    The British Embassy Warsaw is now looking for a Post Security Manager who will work closely with the Regional Overseas Security Manager (ROSM) to ensure the security and safety of staff and families at the British Embassy Warsaw and staff properties on the Estate as well as safety of visitors. The role will involve the management of an established and capable team of contracted security officers, as well as other security and safety related tasks. The job holder must have excellent communication skills and the ability to give clear and concise advice.

    The role entails:

  • Management of the security contract and operational management of the contracted security officers, as well as support to the security officers ensuring they are up to date on policy and procedures and operate our equipment correctly. This involves, among others, working with security officers who are responsible for security checks including physical searches of people and vehicles, monitoring of CCTV, operating a UHF radio network, patrolling and security regulations.
  • Management of security equipment to include inventory checks, planned maintenance and testing schedules and correct use or deployment of the equipment, as well as suggesting and purchasing new, if applicable.
  • Deliver security briefings to staff, contractors and visitors.
  • Security surveys of residential properties as well as emergency checks.
  • Security exercises and learning and development to understand policy and procedures and written and oral communication to senior management, staff, contractors or visitors on security issues as required.
  • Assisting on VIP & Official visits and events, including occasional field deployments.
  • Acting as a back-up driver, when requested.
  • Liaison with local police including diplomatic police and relevant local authorities on security matters.
  • Reacting to security incidents and issues and champion a 'customer first' approach (meet and exceed customer expectations).
  • Maintain an excellent working knowledge of, and work proactively and in accordance with UK and Polish legislative requirements and best practice relevant to security.
  • Consistently promote and adhere to internal and local policy, procedure, and legislation, including but not limited to aspects relating to fire, health and safety and act as Fire Manager.
  • Ensure diplomatic bags and mail are received, opened, sent and accounted for in line with policy.
  • Other relevant tasks as detailed by ROSM or the Head of Corporate Services.
  • Resources managed:

    Whilst no fixed budgets will be delegated to this role, the job holder should monitor Capital bid budgets and cooperate with the Head of Corporate Services with respect to any procurement.

    Essential qualifications, skills and experience

    Our ideal candidate has:

  • A minimum of 3 years military, police, commercial or diplomatic security experience.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English (C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) .
  • Ability to work as an individual and within a team.
  • Knowledge of security policies and procedures and physical security standards to UK and EU published standards.
  • Computer literacy especially in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Desirable qualifications, skills and experience

    Good to have:

  • Proficiency in written and spoken Polish (C1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages)
  • Good organisational skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication.
  • An eye for detail.
  • A full, valid driving licence with a clean record.

    This is a full-time, 24-months contract, 37.5 working hours per week. The gross salary for this position is PLN 8,561 gross per month. Working hours are flexible and staff are entitled to time-off-in-lieu for agreed extra hours worked. The annual leave entitlement is 20 or 26 days per year pro rata and the Embassy also enjoys a maximum of 14 Polish / UK public holidays per year.

    The start date mentioned in the advert is just an expected start date. The appointment can start earlier or later depending on several factors.

    Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax required by the local law.

    The successful candidate will be subject to the Polish references check and satisfactory completion of a probationary period of three months.
