    As a Payroll Accounting & Closing Specialist you will be responsible for the accurate processing of monthly payroll and the completion of related closing activities. As a responsible and dedicated professional, you will ensure accuracy in both the payroll process and related accounting processes, ensuring that all aspects of payroll are handled efficiently and accurately, and that month-end and year-end closing entries are timely and accurate.

    YOU WILL

    • Define, apply, and verify all payment-related settings for all German companies across various SAP systems.
    • Post incoming and outgoing payments related to payroll.
    • Reconcile payroll and account management, as well as all postings related to payroll in 21 German Merck companies.
    • Take responsibility for the monthly payroll process, considering all relevant tax, labor law, collective bargaining, and social security framework conditions.
    • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert, being the main point of contact for related departments regarding questions about the monthly payroll process.
    • Foster interdisciplinary cooperation, closely collaborating with related areas (e.g., IT & HR Services) to ensure correct personal data in the relevant systems.
    • Drive process optimization by proposing ideas for improvements in the area of responsibility and subsequently implementing them within the framework of company-wide guidelines.

    YOU NEED

    • Very good knowledge of financial accounting
    • Knowledge of HR processes and IT systems (especially SAP)
    • Good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
    • Independence and very good work organization, conscientiousness, reliability and sense of responsibility
    • Analytical skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work in an international environment and build strong partnerships with colleagues, business partners and customers
