    About the role

    As we are expanding our team in Systems Model Based Engineering (SMBE) organization based in Gdansk R&D Center, we are seeking for a talented, highly motivated, and results-driven engineer with expertise in control systems specification, design, architecting, programming, and verification.

    The Senior Controls Engineer will work with global, cross disciplinary teams to design and qualify control solutions for a full range of HVAC/R equipment and systems for buildings and transport applications with strong emphasis on using model-based design methods.

  • Requirements

    We are looking for people who have expertise in control systems specification, design, architecting, programming, and verification. If this is you, get in touch.

    As a minimum you must have:

  • BS in Electrical, Computer, Control Systems Engineering major, with 8-10 plus years of experience or MS in Electrical, Computer, Control Systems Engineering major, with 5-7 plus years of experience.
  • Demonstrated skills in control system algorithm development and implementation into an embedded platform (PLC highly desired, knowledge of model-based simulation techniques highly desired).
  • Proficiency in use of MATLAB/Simulink or similar tool for control design, verification, and code generation with integration in PLC.
  • Knowledge of simple software architectures and control software organization into modules.
  • Knowledge of HW/SW embedded control system architectures, including RTOS.
  • Proven deliverable of quality products to customer.
  • Experience with leading projects for software development, production, sustenance of industrial machinery.
  • Familiarity with version control and software lifecycle management systems (e.g. IBM Jazz, Jira).
  • Responsibilities

    As a Senior Controls Engineer, you'll be responsible for:

  • Lead the development of production ready controls solutions ensuring customer and technical requirements are met.
  • Drive decisions on best controls architecture solutions including allocation of control functions to controller modules (e.g. PLC controller, microcontroller-based UI module, connectivity/IoT module).
  • Ensure controls system requirements are captured, structured, and modeled.
  • Support project management with the definition of suitable plans for development and verification, conduct stakeholder technical reviews.
  • Collaborate with controls design experts to develop control logic meeting controls requirements, define test plans and perform verification in a model and a simulated environment.
  • Follow standard procedures to automatically generate embedded software control code from models for specific embedded platforms, also including PLC target platforms.
  • Use standard model-based verification tools and infrastructure including model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, and hardware-in-the-loop simulation to validate the control software.
  • Able to verify the control software in lab/simulators and support field trial, production and sustenance.
  • Coordinate development activities occurring on globally distributed sites.
