What's the role?
The BI Team Lead will build and inspire our BI team while spearheading our ambitious migration to Looker and AI-powered insights. The role combines hands-on business intelligence expertise with strategic leadership, serving as the driving force behind IG's "Smart Business" data transformation strategy and making data accessible across our global organization through self-service dashboards and AI agents.

What will you do?
Strategic BI Leadership & Platform Migration

• Lead and inspire a team of BI analysts, providing mentorship, career development, and strategic direction while managing resource allocation across multiple cross-functional squads
• Drive the strategic planning and execution of our Looker migration, collaborating with senior stakeholders to align BI initiatives with business objectives and deliver measurable impact
• Champion the development of AI-powered insights, co-pilots, and automated analytics solutions while partnering with Analytics Engineering and Data Engineering teams to optimize infrastructure
• Establish and drive BI best practices across the organization, ensuring consistent data visualization standards, governance frameworks, and self-service analytics adoption

Team Management & Organizational Development

• Manage talent development and strategic planning across the BI Analysts Chapter, ensuring seamless team rotation between squads based on business priorities
• Foster organizational change by driving adoption of self-service analytics across all business functions, establishing consistent best practices and governance frameworks that scale globally
• Develop team members' skills and careers while building the leadership foundation for IG's data-driven future
• Guide cross-functional squads delivering measurable business value within focused sprint cycles

Business Intelligence Excellence & Innovation

• Operate as the centre of excellence for analytics across IG's four key data themes: Business Intelligence, Operational Efficiency, Client Acquisition, and Client Experience
• Translate complex business requirements into actionable BI roadmaps, ensuring analytics capabilities directly support IG's strategy and deliver measurable commercial outcomes
• Manage multiple priorities simultaneously, ensuring critical business dashboards and insights are delivered at pace while maintaining highest standards of quality and user experience
• Champion business users' data capabilities across the organization through cutting-edge technologies and collaborative partnerships

What will you need for this role?
Experience

• 3+ years of demonstrated experience in BI development with strong expertise in dashboard creation and data visualization
• Leadership experience or clear leadership potential with proven ability to mentor and develop talent
• Track record of establishing and implementing best practices, governance frameworks, or organizational change initiatives

Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge of Looker or similar BI tools with proven ability to drive platform migrations
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of data modelling concepts with experience on cloud data platforms, particularly Google BigQuery
• Understanding of AI agents, co-pilots, and automated insights with passion for driving innovation in analytics and business intelligence
• Deep understanding of data visualization principles and best practices, including selection of appropriate chart types for different data structures, audience needs, and analytical objectives
• Hands-on experience with advanced dashboard formatting and customization using HTML/CSS to create polished, branded, and user-friendly analytical interfaces
• Experience with data governance frameworks and self-service analytics implementation
